Is there a way to hook up a two terminal battery disconnect if I run an alternator.
I bought this disconnect on impulse and didn't know that I should have gotten one with four posts. Just wondering.

Just run the Batt cable to one side of it, and the alt cable to the otherside. Put a 80 amp fuse the the alt line,to save the batt if the alt goes to ground. It makes it easy to check your alt this way too. Shut off the batt switch and if the engine still runs , the alt is charging

Actually by the rules, the two post wiring described above is not legal.

Gene is correct in that it does work but does not kill the engine if the switch is shut off, and the rules typically say shuts off all power or kills the engine.

Use a spare ford solenoid, run a wire to the small ignition (start) lug of it from the non battery side of the disconnect. Run your alternator charging wires through the large lugs that the battery cables would normally use.

When power is on the small lug is energized, and power can pass thru the large lugs and allow the alternator to charge. When the disconnect is thrown, the extra solenoid is de-energized and the power from the alternator interrupted and the motor will shutoff.

You don't need an inline fuse with this setup.
