ive been experimenting a bit lately..dirt works dw7 four bar..unclamped..running a three eighths mile medium banked slick as ice track...i decided to try doing away with the j bar and running a straight rod to the left side of the pinion and also moved the rr spring in front the axle..lr is behind..running about three inches of rake in the panhard bar....car is fine entering and thru the center but at the point i start to pick up the throttle, smoothly, it seems to have a four wheel drift to it, had to burp the gas a couple of times last week to keep it out of the wall...but its not a deal where im countersteered one way or the other like a loose or push condition, just more of a drift to me...rear tires seem to be somewhat equal, gained four pounds in rr, two and half in the left rear..at the time had a 650rf, 700lf, 150rr, 200lr..doing all the normal slick track adjustments for the slick, more wedge, lr bar up..no weight added though, running about 57.3.....any thoughts on this would be appreciated...

HEY DIRTRACR,
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS. I CAN TRY TO HELP. AFTER YOU HAVE SWITCHED TO THE SHORT BAR HAS THE CAR ROLLED MORE OR PICKED UP. CAN YOU FEEL THE REAR SUSPENSION MOVEMENT? IS THERE ANYONE ELSE RUNNING THE SHORT BAR AT YOUR TRACK? I AM ASKING BECAUSE I THINK THE CAR ISN'T GETTING ON IT. I KNOW MY CAR DOES THE SAME AS YOURS WHEN I FLATTEN OUT THE BAR FOR A TACKY TRACK AND IT GOES SLICK ON ME. ON SLICK THE BAR NEEDS MORE ANGLE TO WORK. I HAVE RIGHT AT 5" RAKE IN MINE. FLATTEN IT OUT A BIT FOR WET. SOMETHING TO LOOK FOR WHEN INCREASING ANGLE IS DRIVESHAFT CLEARANCE ON THAT BAR BEHIND SEAT. ALSO ON SLICK YOU CAN TRY PUTTING YOUR RR SPRING BEHIND ON THE AXLE TUBE ITSELF. I RUN MINE THERE MYSELF. A 150 WILL BE ALRIGHT. I HEARD ECKERT RAN BOTH SPRINGS CLAMPED ON HIS LATEMODEL AT VOLUSIA THIS YEAR WITH THE LR IN FRONT. JUST SOME IDEAS FOR EXPERIMENTING, SORRY I GOT YA STARTED ON ALL THIS WILD CRAP! LOL

good to hear from ya...i just decided to start trying some new stuff ive been hearing about..were not points chasing this year and even though weve sucked the last couple of weeks, we"ll hit on it...the guys ive spoken with around here say im running TOO MUCH angle in the straight bar about three inches..the car feels like the same as it did the first time i lowered that left lower bar and went with the softer rf..it really feels like it rolls over a ton, but i am not getting the shock travel at all like i was before...before it was about a half inch of bottoming out, now its about two inches..but the car feels like its rolling over a ton..the rf shows good shock though..and ive had the rear end apart this week, again, checking for binds and everything checks out...the two other dirt works that i run against are running this setup and are fast..finished one two last week..one buddy says to bump the rear up to about 59..but i dont know, never was that big a fan of hanging alot of lead on it maybe a little but not alot..had an experience a few years back where i hung a bunch of lead on the car and all i got was a big pendulum effect..maybe i had it in the wrong place but after that i never hung that much lead on her again....people around here say run the j bar on the rough, tacky stuff and run the straight on the slick..this week were back at the paperclip track that stays fairly tacky throughout the night so i may try that..
