Mud off is just a soluble cutting oil ( mixes with water ). Can be bought at almost any petroleum supplier. We just use baby oil.

From what I have heard from our graphics guy, baby oil is very hard on vinyl. I have seen some of mine peel because of it too...Someone suggested PAM cooking spray on the forum, I am interested in seeing if that would work.

Also, Baby Oil is not a cost effective alternative, Mudd Off is cheaper than Baby Oil and works much better. We have used diesel mixed with water, will try cutting oil next. But hey, everybody loves the way the car smells with baby oil all over it, hehehe.

We have tried them all, mud off, baby oil you name it and the best thing we have found is "pledge", or any other furniture wax or polish. I know it sounds crazy but it is cheap and the car shines like you can't belive and the mud just falls off.

(my 2 cents)

I agree, pledge or any furniture polish works very well. We have used it in the past and it doesn't hurt the vinyl either. As far as cost-effective, I don't know ounce for ounce, but it looks good and works like a champ. My two-cents worth.

I use baby oil..works well. I get mine from the Dollar store. Where I race (HRP) the pits are paved and they kinda frown upon any type of diesel oil products.
