What size fuel cell will I need running alcohol on a half mile track? Weekly features are twenty laps. I prefer to use the smallest cell that is practical due to limited space.

Most cars running on alcohol use a 32 gallon cell because of the amount of fuel burn off you will have.

There is another way to look at this though...if you are running 20-25 lap races all the time, then it would be possible to run a 22 gallon and then add lead for the same effect. But you can add the lead where you want it.....where as the 32 gallon cells are big and generally cant be moved as much because of the size. The burn off is still there, but if your consistently running a short feature, I would rather have the option of being able to move the weight or take it off.......your talking about 70 lbs difference between the 22 and the 32. About 3 percent change in rear is a big deal! Just a thought.

i normially use a 32 gal cell because we do run several 50+ lap features, but alot of the time i will not run the cell full and add lead to make weight. as jammin said its a big deal and i did alot of work on the scales at the beginning of the year to know where to put lead for desired results. as far as fuel consumption, i wouldnt see you using 22 gal of fuel in a 20 lap feature but it depends on the track. i have come close to that on a high speed high bank 3/8 oval before. if your on the gas alot at your track you may be close on fuel.

I use a 16gal. because I didn't like to carry the extra fuel in the car. The draw back is I can't run more than a 20 lap race, and if there is a lot of cautions 20 laps is pushing it. I run a 4/10th's mile track, I think on a 1/2 mile I would run a 22gal.
