i firsty built my mods with engine to the left 2 inches, didnt feel there was enough roll for the am racers to bite. the second car i built i put the engine centered the car worked better. this new one i am working on has the engine 1 inch to the right and one i am building for another party can go 2 inches to the right. i think on dirt you want the engine to the right and asphalt to the left.

I agree with this thinking, Now, what about raising the motor to promote sidebite?

I am with you guys...any weight that is already there, you dont have to transfer.... The farther to the right...more roll....

Farther to the left....less roll.....

Now, I guess we have to come up with an adjuster to move the motor over when we want it there. LOL

I HAVE ALSO RAISED THE ENGINE UP 1 1/2 BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANY IMPROVEMENT FROM WHERE IT WAS LOCATED HEIGHTH WISE

Thanks Rich, I was thinking about going up, but maybe to the right will be better. I won't do it with this car but I'm making some notes for future reference.

you have to factor in more than engine location for a proper decision on where engine should be placed. the more the engine is to the left or to the rear, the weaker the right front spring should be. and vice-versa.
with our engine 5/8" to left of center we use a 750 lb spring. moving it 1" farther to the left we had to go to a 650 lb rf spring to get enough weight transfer in corner for front end not to push on dirt track.

Thanks for the info everyone. Garyg1 you are correct on your spring theory. My motor is offset 2" to the left and all year te car was tight. It plowed like a tractor so I just keep softening the R/F spring ad kept an eye on the shock travel and we ended up with a 500lb spring in that corner. It cured it and one other thing that helpe me was a 13" panhard bar mounted on the left side of the housing. Thanks for the help!
