just want some input on the l31 vortec heads as if you would use them on a mod motor
also would you re drill or get the correct intake?
and would you use the factory plastic gaskets or standard ones?
ore would you pich the heads and use bow ties or darts?

If you're gonna usem outta the box go with
the Dart or Bowtie. I have a set of worked
Vortecs and wouldn't trade them for the world.

I have a set of vortecs I run on my stock. I bought a edlebrock super victor for the vortec. I also use the valve cover adapters. They are the only thing I dont like about the deal. I bolted mine on outta the box. Used the Z-28 springs, lightweight retainers, and stock valves. BIG difference compaired to OLD dubble humps. They require a little extra work to race, but they will outflow the bowtie and some dart heads, out of the box. OH and I bought the intake gasket from the chevy dealer. Use silicone on the ends.

I have a .060 over 350 with flat tops and the vortec heads. This engine has the best power of any that I have ever ran.We rework the heads for ***** in studs and guide plates and change them to stainless steel valves with proper springs for the cam.We also redrilled the heads for the old style intake bolt pattern. We have been using a victor jr.,but plan to change to the super victor for these heads.I also use stock valve covers and add breather tubes.

I have a set of Dart Pro1 Heads I bought new this year. I took them straight out of the box put them on my motor and the dyno said 550hp. And the best part about it is I still have room to cut the heads and expand my hp.
