Going to a small auction in PA tomorrow morning (10/25/02) and need some help.
I'm not very knowledgeable in the engine department so all comments are appreciated.

What 350 chevy block numbers are good ones for street stock racing. They evidentally have about 25 or so there. Our class allows 365 ci, stock production blocks. I assume 4 bolt mains? Is there a Bowtie block?? Is it good and how can I tell what's what.

Also, I'm told Bowtie or Vortex heads are the way to go. How can I distinquish each and are there certain numbers for them????

Lastly, intakes. Must be stock production and cast iron. What are the good ones and how can I tell. We run 2 barrels, mostly modified 500 cfm Holleys.

I just found out about this auction or I would have consulted you ahead of time.

Thank you all ahead of time.

Go here:

hit their Chevy casting numbers page and print it off and take it with you. It should
help a lot. There are so many castings to just list, it would take a while to type them in here. Mortec has a good listing of them.

Hope that helps, and good luck tomorrow.

010 blocks are always good also 014 blocks(although most are 2 bolt)just go by the last 3 numbers.vortec heads are center bolt and have four bolts on each side for intake mounting, bowtie's are angle plug.bowtie intakes are the best they are easy to recognize they have a bowtie on top.

Not all bowties are angle plug. Canadian 2bbl intake with #313 is a good one, too.
