Anybody ever tried this??
We were short on time to get the car ready and we still didn't have a p/s pump and brackets. One of the guys helping me come up with a pressure regulator (don't ask me where or how he got it). We used this regulator to run fluid from the tranny cooler to the steering gear box. It's adjustable and has a bypass.
At idle I don't have much power steering, but at racing speed it works good.
Just wondering how long this'll last. If tranny fluid were good for a gear box, they'd already be using it..
The only thing that really concerns me is that there may be too much heat from the fluid going to the box.

Nope, never tried it. Sounds interesting though.... I been told not to use transmission fluid in power steering pumps, transmission fluid has friction inhancers which are hard on p/s pumps. Don't know if it'll hurt the steering box.
