I run .5- on the LF with 1.5+ on the RF. I wanted 0 on the LF and 2.0+ on the right, but had trouble because of the engine set back. So we just made it a 2 degree caster stagger.

This is a metric car with a Z28 steering box.

I just read a post that was from Sleepy Gomez (circle track magazine) and his metric stock car setup had 5 degrees LF and 9 degrees RF on a "1/4 mile bullring"

Question: How do you measure Caster?

OK, you can buy ya guage. Turn the wheel 20 degrees one direction, 0 the meter, then 20 the other way, which makes a 40 sweep. Or take it to the alignment show.
Caster is like front weight jacks adjusting weight everytime the wheels are turned. The more caster, the more the weight changes.

Measuring caster: See Sleepy's Tool Time in Circle Track. Honestly I can't remember if it was published a month or two ago or if it will be soon.

Works like this: About 1/2" id tubing. Cut longer than the tangs on the ball joints but shortyer than the threads. Cut straight on one end. The other has a notch half round about 5/8" long. weld 13" rod to the tube. Slip tube on bottom ball joint tang. Tube notch should then half encircle the tang on top joint. Use a magnetic anglefinder on the rod. Read directly. You did weld the rod square to the tube?

I wish I had a photo here, might be easier to understand. Keep on reading Circle Track. SLEEPY

For a short track dirt car I run +4.5 on the left and +7.5 on the right on a metric street stock. When you let go of the wheel it turns left!

Hey Roger.....

It's Gator from Macon. Get ahold of me, I lost your #, and I have new ones for ya.
BTW...Why arent you racing? Are you giving it up or what? Last week 7/13/02, Jim Farley lead all feature laps, Weed made the pass on 4 (last lap), Pickering Protested and they tore Weed's car apart....First time in awhile!! WOW!! My first night is next week, hope to do well!!
