tried to change the gears from 2 diff metric diff today
one out of a monte one out of a malibu
the inner pinion bearings were different sizes , i i took these out of the cars myself and they a phsycally the same rear ends
Can anyone tell me what years i have to look for to get the same pinion sizes?
thanx for any input on the subject

did you keep the bearings with there pinions the outside diamiter should be the same but if all else fails you could just switch housings and all pretty ez thats what i do i have three rear ends set up so all i have to do is bolt them up and put my hardened axle in on the right side

Pipes, The 78 and a few 79 cars came with the smaller pinion bearing. everything from 80 on up has the larger bearing. the gears are the same.

I agree with powerglide,although every 79 I have seen has had the small bearings.

You may be right redneck. I'm confused most of the time from sniffing solvasol in the tranny shop LOL.

yep the inner pinion race is two diff sizes
crap just when i thought i had it all figured out
