Been working on my camaro trying to get the gearing right, I know you have to multiply the rear end gear by the transmission ratio to come up with your final, but we are going to run a different track and going to run through second gear (on a 3 speed) can anyone tell me what approximate gear it would be without having to pull the transmission out, it came out of a chevy pickup, what ratio would 2nd gear be? and just be sure, you take your rear end gear and multiply it by the gear you will be running in to get your final gear, correct?

There are "rings" or lines around the splines on the input shaft. If it hasn't been changed, you can tell the ratio by the number of rings. I don't know of any way to check it without pulling the trans. It's more accurate to count it.
