I RECENTLY RETURNED TO STREET STOCK RACING AFTER 14 YEARS. I RAN THE CAR AT A PRACTICE SEASON TWO WEEKS AGO AND RACED IT LAST FRIDAY NIGHT IN TWO FEATURES. (FINISHED 10TH IN FIRST FEATURE). I RACE AT 3/8 MILE MEDIUM BANK GENERALLY DRY SLICK TRACK. I RUN A METRIC CHASSIS - 3140 LBS. (3,000 MINIMUM) 355 FLAT TOP, FLAT TAPPET TWO BARREL - PG 1.82 TRANS 3.89 REAR 91" REAR TIRES - 6200 RPM. IT HAS AFTERMARKET UPPER CONTROL ARMS - IMPALA SPINDLES WEIGHT JACKERS. WE RUN AMERICAN RACER 305 60D 15 TIRES. ENGINE SET BACK - SPARK PLUG IN LINE WITH UPPER BALL JOINT. THIS PAST WEEK THE CAR SEEMED FAIR IN FIRST FEATURE. I STARTED 7TH AND HELD ON FOR 9 LAPS. THEN THE CAR STARTED GETTING LOOSER AND LOOSER UNTIL I SPUN. AFTER THAT, I TOOK AWAY SOME REAR BRAKE AND CAR SEEMED BETTER. ENTRY WAS NICE AND SLIGHT LOOSE ON EXIT (SPINNING TIRES). FOR THE NEXT FEATURE, I TOOK STAGGER OUT FROM 1-1/2 INCHES TO 1/2 INCH. WHEN I WHEN OUT THE TRACK STILL LOOKED MOIST LIKE 1ST FEATURE. I COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR - TOO LOOSE. THE CAR WAS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. IT SEEMED LIKE A FINE LINE BETWEEN PUSH AND LOOSE. IT ALSO SEEMS THE LONGER I RUN THE CAR THE WORSE IT GETS. THIS IS THE SETUP I RAN. AM I CLOSE? ANY SUGGESTIONS? THIS SET UP WAS WHAT I RAN IN FIRST FEATURE.
STAGGER FRONT - 1-1/4 REAR 1-1/2 LEFT % - 53.4 REAR % - 50.4 CROSS % - 52.6 CASTER - LF - +2.5 RF - +4.5 CAMBER + .5 -3.0 TOE 1/4 OUT ACKERMAN 2 DEGREES I KNOW THERE IS A TON OF BUMP STEER.
REAR CONTROL ARMS - LOWERS 0 DEGREES UPPERS 17 DEGREES DOWN 200 LBS OF WEIGHT JUST AHEAD AND ABOVE REAR AXLE. 40 LBS ON TAIL.
SOME LOCAL RACERS SUGGESTED TAKING GEAR OUT TO CORRECT PROBLEM. IS THIS TRUE? AFTER 2ND FEATURE, RACER SUGGESTED THAT TIRES WERE GLAZED (THEY WERE TIRES THAT CAME WITH CAR WHEN PURCHASED). WOULD THIS CREATE THE WORSE HANDLING CONDITIONS IN 2ND FEATURE? I REMOVED 1" OF STAGGER.
ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED.

increase rear percent. I dont see how you can get any forward bite with 50.4% increasing rear percent will also tighten car up. I would suggest 56-58%.

I would also decrease that toe to i/8 and bring that RR spring up to 2oo and raise my air about 2# all the way around and see what you have you can do a lot with air and it's free I'd play with it a little
