Would it be feesible to mount the battery on the right side of the car like maybe somewhere around over the axle or leave it on the left side?

Put it where you need the weight. If you don't need it mount it in the polar center of your car.

I've been using the optima's for so long I've forgotten which way.... but there is a preferred orientation for mounting a standard, lead-plate, battery to best protect it from internal failures caused by crashes.

Does anybody recall the correct way?
long axis of bat on long axis of car ... or long axis of bat perp. to car's long axis?

Feasible ?.....Yes.......Desirable ?.....NO

You have to have a battery. Since You must carry this weight, Then mount it in a position to help you gain left and rear weight.

I mount them behind the drivers seat in a marine box. Some people like to mount them in the trunk. But, I prefer to keep the possible ignition source away from the fuel cell.

I think most people do give some thought to the mounting position.
I seen one guy mount his on the rf down bar, basicly, right behind the rf tire. I asked why he chose that position, and he said, "well, it was a good place to weld it on,(rf down and diagonal brace) AND his stock battery cable would reach the starter,if he mounted it there"..........

Well, Ok, he has his reasons, and I have

What about every thing else, most people do think about the battery but, what about all the small items. Like puke can,ps tank, selinoid and wiring. These things, in and of themselves don't amount to much. However, collectively, the small things add up.
So,since You will be carring them anyway, mount them all as far left,as far rearward, and as low as possible.

Good Luck

OOPs posting at the same time again.

Eddie, You have your battery in the same place I use. I would have to have a reason to move it, and so far, never had the need to do so. So, good, bad,or indifferent, Thats where I put them.
