I've heard nothing but bad things about the snap ring that controls the movement of a coupler for a Powerglide. I think I'm going to put a spacer in between the crank and front of the shaft instead. I have a 400 with a 350 flywheel and spacer with a powerglide. I realize its gonna take some tinkering, but what length should the spacer be? Also, how much play should there be?

TCI makes this clamp collar to do away with the lock ring.

If you set up your tranny correctly the coupler should move in and out about 1/16 to 3/16 inch total. Use neversieze on the splines, the only reason the snap ring should break is too little or too much play.

Well I bought the used coupler and it had no snap ring on it and I can't seem to find one for it. I readily admit that I haven't gone to the hardware store or Autozone to see if I can find something that would work.

Anbody know where I can get the snap ring?
