My class rules changed and now for metric cars we can move the engine from the stock location back to line up the #1 spark plug to the upper ball joint. This is about 4 1/2 inches in my car. What kind of gain of rear percentage have you guys seen added when doing this?

Well **** I guess I'll try to answer my own question.

Well there Dan moving the engine around four inches will help you a bit but who knows how much, If you told us what your car percentages is we might be able to give you a ball park answer.

My percentages are 54% rear 55% left side weight and the cross well heck I forgot.

Heck you might gain 2% percent rear maybe. I don't know? Maybe my fellow dirt forum buddies might help you, maybe not since you are a newbie.

Be patient man.I cant speak for everyone but I sometimes give answers some thought before I go to type.I think it would help out.But would the time=the payoff?That would be for u to decide.I elected to leave mine in stock location to see howed it do then maybe move it to see the difference on the track and scales. welcome to the forum!

you are gonna have to shorten the drive shaft along with moving the tranny mount or just go to a power glide to keep the same length but some cutting and moving is gonna be required. it would help you on your rear percentage but i dont know much about the exact percentages but it would help with the weight transfer and if you could lower the engine any it would help with your center of gravity by lowering it. you would come better of the corners and the tires would be planted better.

moving the firewall was no walk in the park for me,i got it back some but nowhere near the #1=ball joint thing. Skawlded Dawg

Dan, Welcome to the forum. It does sometimes take a while to get answers,But I think you will find the forum members happy to help.

The center of gravity will move a distance of;

(Weight of component) X ( move distance)
(vehicle weight)

On the home page of this forum,You will find calculators for center of gravity and weight distribution.

Using these tools,You should be able to awnser your own questios a bit more accurately than in the

Move it back by all means.This will move weight off the front and move it more towards the rear.Scale your're car before and after.Always remember what ever comes off the front can be taken off the rear;50 lbs off the front means 50 lbs off the rear of add on weight.
