What's everyone's opinion on the best "stock" bumper. By stock I mean not aftermarket or tubular. I just had a guy give me a Mercedes bumper (aluminum). Seems like a good bumper, definitely a huge weight savings over my stock Cutlass bumper.

Escort , Fairmont, and Volvo have good
light bumpers , also. I have used the
alum. Camero or Vega bumpers a lot over
the years and they are not as light but are
really strong. Hope this helps.

Late G-body cars have optional Aluminium front bumpers.(monte carlo, grand prix etc).

my last one came from a 88 grand prix.

I have also noticed the crown vics have them also, they are a nice banana shaped bumper, good for puting under aftermarket nose pieces.

I was also thinking of using some of the plastic honey comb the front driver cars tend to use.

A Volvo bumper is a good one front and rear will work on the front of a metric car they are about 3/4in. thick on corners and wrap around and you can attach front fenders to them. And then put you nose piece on and there you go.

I like the oem bumpers off of like the 77 Camaro's, the rear has like leaf springs behind the bumper and the front has like a shock absorber on each side which has soem give to it instead of solid mount.

For the front I've been using the aluminium bumper off mid-80's Caravan's. Very plentiful in the junkyards. Not quite as strong as Camaro bumpers, but easier to find around here.
