Hey guys, I'm about to tear into a swapmeet powerglide for my street stock. I was wondering what has been successful for you in preparing this tranny for racing- on a budget. I was looking at all the wonderful toys on the TCI website, but what really applies to my application? I've always ran standard, but this car has a GM rear end with a 3.40 gear that comes out to 6.00 when multiplied by the 1.76 powerglide first gear. This is the ratio I like to run anyway so I'd rather not even mess with swapping the rear or other things. I know many racers are happy with and swear by glides. Is there anything you can share with me to help?

Oh, one other thing, the direct drive deal that eliminates the heavy converter sounds rad, but it is not allowed in our class. Is it possible to sneak it by with todays technology? If it is possible, someone in our class is already running it, and I would simply like to equip myself to compete. Our tech inspector is pretty blind; I would worry more about looky-loos and other competitors. You understand.

Range, if you will do a search on "powerglide" you will find a million posts earlier about this.
