This may be a dumb question, but I'm a beginner so I'm entitled I know that the vast majority of racers choose Chevrolet. My question is why? Is it simple availablty of chassis? Are the parts cheaper or more effective? I've always been a Ford man so if
Chevy's are better someone please talk some sense into me. Thanks.

Part prices. Look in any add or catalog for performance parts, small block chevy parts are always the least expensive.
And of course .... chevys are much faster

GM metric chassis are a dime a dozen. I got three without even looking....
Well that and the only good thing ford ever made was the 9" rearend.

I agree with 4d_power. I am a try Ford man and have won with the one. I run a 351w while the other Ford guys at my track run the 429 or 460 big blocks. The Crown vic chassis is a good one as well. Has a front suspension like the Camero, with the rear of the GM Metric. We have had two Fords win features this year, giving we have 3 fords against 45 others.

Go with the Ford!!

What years of Crown Vic are best? A few of the guys here locally run Thunderbirds so I was thinking about one of those. What is the wheel base of the Vic? Any other chassis suggestions?

we had a thunder chicken given to us as a free ride for 2 year (only reason )but anyway we ran it on a mid 80's frame had to have it shortened ot fit the 108 wheelbase they are 112. it was bad a$$ fast but to much work and money if we were paying the bills like i said the only reason we ran it was because the old driver got hurt at work and couldn't race anymore but he wanted his car out there and gave us an open account at the parts store
