ok hear we go i have been fighting with getting info on ford 9" so i can put it under my firebird. got one out of a 77 bronco but i don't think the springs are going to bolt up because the tubes arn't wide enough.

what is a good 9" to get to put under the car without cutting down?

next point. how much would it cost to get a wide rearend cut down is it something i could do myself. other than the axels and i have been told that you cannot cut down 28 spline axels is this true.

so far i have spent $200 and all i have to show is an extra 3rd member and axels and housing that i can't use.

I use a 9 inch from a 75 Grand Marquis. The axels have 5" x 5" bolt pattern and the rear end will be about an inch wider than the front end. I run 3inch offsets on the front and 4 inch on the back to square the car. You'll have to buys leaf perches and weld them on, but I've had good luck with this rearend so far. I put disc brakes on mine, if you do this, the axels will have to be trimmed a little for the rotors. I use "hats", and if you do this, you'll have to cut alot of the axel flange away.

Call Danny Miller rear gears in kirkwood,mo. You can get exactly what you want and not be out any more than you would be if you found one in a junkyard and built it the way you want. and if you need axles, you just call.
