Does anyone know of a chemical or the chemical is used in tire softner. Maybe we can unite some brain-power to keep from spending $30 for softening a set of tires.

There are numerous "home recipes" to soften tires, some of them utilizing chemicals which are health hazards.
Probably the easiest one to make would contain 1qt diesel fuel, 1qt trans fluid, and 1qt acetone...but keep in mind that nearly all the tire softeners on the market as well as the home recipes will shorten the life of the tire and some actually dissolve the rubber if not used properly......there is another solution...
We at Kinetic Performance sell a tire traction treatment made by Cramac Racing Products that does NOT show up on a durometer, but is very good at improving the tire's grip. It is called MaxTraxion and sells for $14/qt plus shipping. One quart will treat about 8 tires, too.

OK, enough of the sales pitches....

Hope that helps, and let us know if you want more info on MaxTraxion.

Sure do! Just click on our link that scrolls by on the top of the forum page, or click on the banner on the "sponsors" page of this site...the one for Kinetic Performance.
Or, just try this link: http://www.dirt.addr.com/kineticperformance

Most of the info you'll need on us is under the "carburetors" section.

The daytime # (my office here at the day job) is 607-266-3129
or the shop phone (after 6 EST) is 607-277-6462.

Thanks for asking!
