Have any of you ever had any sucess running a 305 or a 307? My buddy and I were wondering how one would run against 350s and 355s. We are always willing to experiment with new things.

I'm running a 307 bored .030" over which makes it a 311 ci engine. It was the motor that came with the car when I bought it. It's got fairly stock heads with solid lifters and roller rockers. A dual plane intake, holley 650 - 4bbl carb, and a pretty high lift cam. My car is fairly heavy (3600 lbs) and I've got a turbo 350 trans with torque converter. If I had a manual trans, or a direct drive powerglide, I think I could keep up with the leaders. As it is now, I get pulled away from coming out of the straights. I'm about 35th or so in the points for the year out of 120 cars. (this is my rookie year by the way) I think this engine is VERY reliable tho. This is it's 3rd season of racing, (The first year with me as its owner.) I refreshed the motor before this season and everything inside still looked real good. If I had the choice, I would go with a 355. My 311 is real solid, but I think it's lacking just a bit in the HP area.
