I just purchased my first Hobby Stock car its an 81 Camaro. I need some input on a couple of things. I'm having the motor redone and curious about what type of oil to use and if I should do any type of break in before I go out onto the track? Also is there much difference between a gear drive and a timing chain? Will I can much with the gear drive? I had more questions but can't think of anymore at this time. Thanks in advance for the input guys.

The engine should be broken in, I usually run mine around 20 minutes at about 2500 rpm. But if you are having your engine built by a professional he will tell you how. I run synthetic motor oil, saved me more than once, but i have been told not to break the motor in on synthetic, too slippery for break in.

Use 20w/50 synthenic oil in engine. For breakin, use regular 10w/40.
