This past Saturday we were in the unfortunate position of breaking an axle in hot laps.We had the spare axle but no seal for the housing. After searching and coming up empty we tried some crude fixing. Our solution? Roll Bar Padding. It does sound crude but it really saved us from going home early. We trimmed two pieces aprox. 3" long and trimmed to fit the housing. We placed one piece inside the housing and lubed it enough to let the axle slide through without going all the way into the housing. The second piece we lubed and wrapped around the axle directly behind the bearing. We lost VERY little gear lube after the heat (8 laps) and the Main (15 laps)The rear end was no hotter than any other night and if the padding got into the gear it was easily chewed up.I managed to win my heat race and was leading the A-Main only to take the white flag and roll a tire off the wheel in turn 1.Pass this on and maybe it can help as it did us.

Right on! We actually put the padding in instead of buy those expensive inner axle tube seals. Keep the lube in the center section where it belongs. Seems to work great!
