Does anybody know what the Holley 7448 (350cfm) carburetor was originally used on or was it strictly an after market carb?

The 7448 is intended as a stock-type replacement carb for Ford 2bbl applications, primarily. It typically comes with the Ford kickdown linkage built onto it, which most racers (you will find) will just hacksaw off.

The OEM carb you are thinking of is also a Holley 2bbl rated at 350cfm, but it does not carry the 7448 number. It was found in several "flavors" ranging from old Ford trucks equipped with governors, typically the early 70's HD trucks.

If your rules require the 7448 carb, you probably won't have much luck finding a junkyard piece, and the ones you may find, tho they may look identical to the 7448, will probably not be allowed in tech due to their different number.

fwiw, if you really need a 7448, I can help you. shoot me a PM, or reply here, or email me directly at

Hope that helps,
