How do you get the bolt out that holds in the cross pin? What size is this bolt and where do you get the wrench? Any help is appreciated. Deed

I run an 8.5 gm rearend and I always use a 5/16 wrench to get the bolt out..if it is broke it would be better to get another pig and put your gears on it..

Sorry. I should have said that the rear is a 7.5". I've tried every small socket in my box and their either to big or to small. I thought that there may be a special wrench for these. Deed

1 of 2 things will only work.
1. 6 point 5/16 box end wrench is best. Dont bother with a 12 point or you will end up with vise grips, if your lucky.

2. A shallow 5/16 - 1/4 drive with stuby extension. 8mm will also fit. 3/8 drive will not work at that angle, it slips and rounds the head

If it breaks off its not junk, youll just need a good sharp drill a pile of ezouts and a whole day of yelling and swearing!!

Good luck, been there, done that!!!

I JUST GOT DONE DOING THE SAMETHING.I USED A
5/16 WRENCH AND OF COURSE I BROKE THE BOLT OFF.I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST POUND THE PIN OUT AND ENDED UP WRECKING THE WHOLE THING. ANOTHER RACER TOLD ME THAT IF THE BOLT IS BROKE OFF AT THE END OF THE THREADS YOU CAN GET IT OUT WITH A MAGNET AND PICK BY TURNING IT.I NOW PUT IN A 8 1/2"
