with the cost of racing fuel today is av gas a cheaper way to go ? what is the down points of running av gas ? what is the good points ? is it too "dry" ( causes pits in the valves and other topend problems ) of a fuel for racing engines ? i have heard of people mixing small amounts 2 cycle oil to cure the "dry" problem, is there anyone else out there that has tried this or even heard of it ? what is the most compession for the 100 octane ?

av gas is too dry to run straight in a gasoline car engine. you need to mix with regular gas or use an upper cylinder lube like you would with alchohol. beleive it or not i use marvel mystery oil cylinder lube in my mod on alky, costs half of what you would pay for the redline or similar stuff at race shops, plus you get more per can, bigger can. works just as good.

I ran AV gas for several years with no problems. I ran 3 oz. Marvel oil to 5 gal. of fuel with a little kick ,3 oz. octane booster per 5 gal. It seemed to work OK.
Watch your temp and rejet if neccessary.

what about running ethanol.,not methanol or alcohol that is usually prohibited in the gas only classes.I have been running 100% ETHANOL for 3 years now.I have had excellent luck with it.what a person might try to do is start with a 10% blend and move up to about a 30% blend.I believe this can be accomplished with no or little carb changes. It will definitly make more hp and torque than straight race gas.(more oxy content.)If you have any questions just pm me back. I never tried it. I'm not a chemist. The octane booster by Berryman's was on recomendation of one of their chemists along with the amount.

Thanks
