I'm assuming you are talking about a cast iron intake. I used to run what is called a bowtie or marine intake. It looks like a normal intake but is about a 3-4 inch rise. They work well but are heavy. At your weight rules that is probably not a big issue. A friend of mine has one for sale but shipping would be expensive because of the weight involved. I,m in cincinnati.

I'm using a G.M. aluminum intake I got from the junkyard. It seems to be doing alright for me also it saves a little weight. Once it is painted it looks like cast iron intake. I also ported out the runners on the intake to maybe improve the flow a little. The stock chevy cast iron intakes are bad about cracking where your carb. is bolted on at. So if you use a stock cast iron intake make sure you get it magnafluxed or you may have a vacuum leak. Also Brezezinski is said to make a very good stock looking intake with a little extra special work done. The web site for them is www.castheads.com

Good luck

If it does not have to be stock I would use a aluminum single plane intake to save you some weight and to increase your top end power. What type I'm not sure about maybe a Edelbrock or Holley. Some of these other guys could probably help you with that.
Hope this info helps you.

VIPER000 I am running a Edelbrock Victor Jr. on my stock car. You will have to run an adapter for the Q-jet though. It works good on 3/8 mile. My car weighs 3300# and has a good 355.
