i am rebuilding the electrical system in my car and am wandering what would be the best type of wire to use for the main lead from the batery. both bateries are located in what would have been the trunk of the car. i will be using approximatly 20ft of cable. should i use multiple wire or single wire and of what guage. i burned up two starters with the old wire and can't afford to keep it up.

As Jammin said, the bigger the better. We use 1/0 welding cable as it has finer wire and is more flexable thus easier to route.

Definately go with the welding cable. In theory, since electrical current travels along the outside of a single conductor, the fine strands of the welding cable are supposed to flow more current than, say, an equivalent sized single conductor.
