Best thing to do would be to hangout in the pits and get to know some of the drivers and crew members. Find someone that maybe is a little short on crew members and offer them a hand. You want to learn how the car works, what kind of maintence is involved and the type of repairs that are involved after an on-track incident. In these situations you can offer to come over to the racers shop and give a helping hand to repair the car. The key thing in getting into racing is to learn about racing. Good Luck

Racer pretty much told you the same thing that I would have. I got started in a pit crew at an early age myself. One way you know that you really want to race, you help someone on their car and get to know about racin, then you will get hit with racin fever. LOL The only cure is to race or be around racing.
I hope that if you get into it, that you have the best of luck!!
