A couple of times last year, i was at a track where the guys didn't want to get their cars dirty so it took absolutely forever to pack the track. Please tracks, get the cars out there and get it done. I jumped down all in the mud, and got the car absolutely buried in mud, but I just got the hose and washed it off...wasnt that bad. Everyone get in the mud a little and everyone's car wont be quite as bad that way. Open wheel cars are terrible for packing because the first place the mud goes from the front wheel is straight up in the air. Thinking of putting some plastic fenders on my car just to pack with now. he he.

I have heard of one track offer for example 5 pack-in points a night for any car that comes out and puts down 5 laps or so.

Well...just because they come out, doesnt mean they pack the track.

Penalize the non packers by starting them in the back of the heat and or "B".

Most of the tracks around here have packers but still a few don't. Our problem is everybody want to wait until a few have pack a groove around the top and then go out and creep around the top side. I will get in front of these guys and hammer on it! Really ****es them off!

we have had problems with the upper classes going around one lap on the top side and pulling in the way we cured it was when race time came and the track was not ready yet they told us that every car was to get on the track and run 10 laps to roll it in or put it on the trailer that worked lol we have also offered 2 pit passes for each truck that comes down and packs thats how my dad and i used to go to the races when i was a kid

We used to race at a track that gave bonus points to those who packed the track,if you went out and only did 1 lap,you did'nt get any bonus points.

If drivers don't pack track...They start in the rear of B heat.......at most of the tracks in Louisiana.

we as racers are the ones that put on the show, the track should be packed for us and ready to race on when we get there!!

6X has a valid point!! It has always been a pet-peeve of mine to have track owners feel as though it was our burden to prepare his track, at our expense. I'm not talking about some moisture to run out in a few laps, but the lumps and ruts. At times I've thought the grader or sheepsfoot should have had a 2 hour head start prior to cars running the track in. But they send the cars out to do the heavy machinery work anyhow.

I agree 100%, but if we don't pack track we start in the rear.

talk to your promoters, all racers must refuse to race on a track that is not ready, if everyone sticks together they will do it, what choice will they have?

TO ME THERES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIRTY AND CAKED WITH 3" OF MUD, AT LEAST WHEN THEY PACK THE MUD STAYS ON THE TRACK, WHEN WE PACK WE TAKE IT ALL INTO THE PITS AND SCRAPE IT OFF IN PILES, SOON YOU HAVE MORE CLAY IN THE PITS THAN YOU HAVE ON THE TRACK!!

6X- I agree with you too! I spray the car down with baby oil and wipe it in. Make sure that you spray wheel wells real good and on the wheels. It makes it so much easier to get it all off. After the races don't wash it. Give it a couple of days and a mild tap with a stick and most will fall off. Then to the carwash. I hate the mud too. I have to run narrow tires and wheels by the rules so it really stinks for us, we have to keep 'em spinning so we don't get stuck which puts even more mud on the car. Oh well where else can you play in the mud with free wrecker service

its optional at our track but they do it. sometimes we got to persuade them to do it but its never a big problem. they completely agree to it. your gonna get the car dirty anyways so dont complain.

I feel we are putting on the show why should we use $4.oo a gallon fuel in an expensive machine to pack their mud let them use push trucks etc. at $1.14 a gallon they get off cheap enough as it is we line their pockets and don't exactly get rich doing it.

if you are racing for money, you are in the wrong business. it should be for the fun and competition of it all. i ain't skeered to get my car dirty and it still wins races. besides pretty/clean don't win races, good race cars and drivers do. my .02 worth.

A good remedy would be to take down the numbers of all the cars that did'nt wheel pack and put them at the front of the qualifing line, and let them get the track when it still ain't in the best shape,if you got over a hundred cars in the pits have the guys that did't pack qualify last!!

We have to pack our track not that we want to but we have to or we run in the soup. The only thing I hate is that she doesen't even get her own track trucks out ther to help and she is a real B*&^*. May be if she would work on it during the week we wouldn't have to spend another 20 bucks in fuel to get it ready ourselves. Oh there is a track about 3 hours from us that the owner has young guys with trucks come in and do all the packing so the cars don't go onto the track untill it is time for hot laps. That is a good owner.

At a track I race, they run 360sprints, and mods on the same night. The push trucks do most of the packing, then the sprint cars all have to go out and put the final roll in on the track. Kinda nice really. They wont even let us mod drivers on the track.

you guys are lucky your talking about mud what is that. i think the track owner here beats us to the track by 15 min. and waters it with a garden hose. its more like dust packing. oh i know what your thinking (go someplace else) the next closest track is 4 hours away. where's my dust mask.

Our track has a bunch of old pickups and sedans with old race tires mounted on em and the track workers run the track in proir to the heats.

The track should be responsible for packing or atleast to the point of final roll in. As we all know this is not the norm nor will it ever be, so you gotta do what you gotta do.
