Our local track runs 4 classes a night, and I think that is more than enough. No one really wants to be at teh track until 1 in the morning. I run another track that just runs 360 sprints and mods, and we are out of there by 10:30 most nights. Kind of nice.

We run 6 classes at both friday and sat night tracks. both start at 7:30 and we usually get done around midnight. about 150 cars in all, the worst part is the 1 1/2 hour drive home from both. I sure get sleepy in church Sun. morning but my wife says if I am going to play I got to pay!

The track I run at ran 4 classes this year, next year they are running 5. I dont think there should be any more than 5.

i believe that 4 should be the max this does 2 things increases the car count provides a better show for the fans and gets u out at a decent time if u have more than 25 cars split and run 2 features and no heats it is better racin to see 20 cars in 4 classes than 12 in 7 i believe that if some one wants ro race bad enough they can find a class to run in and they can afford u can figure about 50 minutes for each class for as practice, heats and feature there fore u have about 3.5 hrs to 4 hrs worth of racing

The track I am going to run at next year that is still being built is starting out with 6 classes to get some new drivers in classes like bombers and then do away with
bombers, street stocks , and pure stocks and have I stock, Limited Mods, and Mods

Our track runs 8 classes with 2 rotating. This is too many although we get through around 12.30 or 1.

This does a couple of things,
A) drags the races on too long
B) tends to reduce the fans because of the time frame [8:00 until 1:00 am]
C) reduces the quality of the track surface.

With this many classes the promoter is trying to keep his purse up by jammin [no offence]the pits full and not worring about the stands.

we run 5 classes at two of the tracks around here and 6 at another one
bombers,hobby,stock,mod , late model
bomber,hobby, b-mods,stock,mods
then another has
dwarfs,fwd4cly,cruisers,hobby,stock, mods
the tracks that run five are useully done start to turn the lites off at mid nite at the latest the other track works the track between the heats and the features and they run 2 cruiser mains and 3-4 hobby mains seems to drag on for ever but i will have to give them this they keep the fans into it with the anouncers and contests and stuff the others are just races the wife likes to go to the one with 6 but we leave early since they run the mods main first and work there way down

Peddler, You are SO RIGHT!!!!!!! I would like to see some changes made also. I liked the hot stocks, but there just wasnt enough of them to make a class. I feel the same about the mini stocks. I raced pure stock and i feel like even it needs to change. I would like to see them get rid of the cruisers and tone down the pures. To me, pure stock means just that-PURELY STOCK. I liked having my 450 lift cam, I dont have much problem with that. All race cars need to sound like one, even if just a little. I dont like the racing wheels. This might be becuase I cant afford them, but I still dont like them. HOT needs a beginneer/poor boy class that pays like pures but doesn't cost so much money. As far as the street stocks-All I can say is they have just about out priced themselves. Good luck next year Jim- Kenneth Brown

We have 5 and it works out well. done about midnight. streets,imcas,pro-stocks,pro-trucks,(a new class this past year) and late models. When we have specials i.e. sprints etc. one class is removed for the night.

We have 3 regular class' Bombers, Street, and Sprints. We have more classes on special nights. If there is enough room in the pits, and you have decent management, I think the more the merrier. If the management is smart, the extra crowd draw will make them more money and will allow prise money to increase, thus drawing in more drivers and teams. It's a lot more complicated than this, and it all depends on the quality of the management.
