As with anything, it has its good and bad points. We have a near by 1/4 mile track that pits in the middle. Theres nothing like sitting on the tire rack watching a good feature from that angle.(even though your neck gets tired..lol) But it does pose a problem trying to visit friends and family in the grandstands and leaving the track in the evening...But who wants tracks that are all the same. Variety is the spice of life!!

The only one I have been to was at the Ice Bowl at TST a while back. One thing I saw was that the fans had something to watch when the racing wasn't going on. It gives them a more up close look at some of the teams working on the cars.

We have both situations. There are pits inside the 1/2 mile but outside the 1/4 mile. For the 1/2 mile events it works out well for entering or exiting the pits. The upper classes of cars get the pads on the inside, these rent for $150 for a season. Bomber and Figure-8 cars, and overflow are on the outside.

We have a continuous wall when the 1/2 mile gate is closed.

Florence Speedway in Ky use to have the pits in the middle but they put then on th out side of turn 3 now cause it got to the point the flagman could not see the back strech cause of the big rigs... I like the pits both ways ..

The 1/2 mile asphalt track in San Antonio, Texas has the pits in the middle but the big rigs are not allowed to park in there. This was difficult at first but they have all learned to deal with it and the spectators can see all the race track now.
