posted April 26, 2003 11:19 AM Jason Wilks Took the Street Stock Heat and Feature Sue DuRoy April 25, 2003 Baton Rouge Raceway On the start of the street stock feature Wilks had the lead followed by David Johnson. Johnson spun and collected other cars. A complete restart with Wilks on the pole. By the end of the front straightaway Wilks had the lead. Second yellow flew when Garry Talbert spun and sat on the berm in four. Wilks when on to win followed by David Johnson, Garry Talbert, Randy Jamison and Daniel Jessup. Jason Traux and Troy Dean took the pure stock heats. Bo Garig pulled into the lead followed by Dean. Dean later pulled into the infield. Garig went onto win by a whole straightaway over Melvin Beucker, Richie Ginn, Jason Traux and Tracy Talbert. UMP heat winners Jerry Cassano and Darron Carroll made up the front row for the feature. By turn one it was Carroll in the lead followed by Cassano. Turn four Cassano took over the lead. Carroll spun in four earning a trip to the rear. A complete restart with Roy Schnebelen on the pole. Cassano took the lead again and held it till the checkered. Schnebelen took second, Darron Carroll came all the way from the rear to finish third. 15 took fourth and Scotty Covington came up through the field to finish fifth. David Ashley and James Ward took the Late Model heat wins. Ashley had the lead on the start but not for long and ward took over the lead and led every lap till the checkered and scored another win. Ashley finished second, Kennith Crowe third, Eric Courville fourth and Kevin Watts fifth. Johnny Whitehead and son Johnny Whitehead JR. took the heat and feature wins in the Cruiser class.
