Familiar faces in fairgrounds winners circle
It was a night of repeat winners at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway as Jay Schraufnagel, Jeremy Christians and Steve Seitz again found their way to victory lane. These three drivers have maintained a strangle hold over their competitors for three seasons. The only new face to make an appearance in the winners circle would be Jason Jaragoske in his IMCA Hobby Stock.
Borrowing John Stantonís IMCA Stock car, Brian Gerber won his Nostalgic Race. Ken Wendt would also win his Nostalgic Race in Randy Schimmelís ride.
In the IMCA Stock feature it was John Stanton and Jeremy Christians who quickly moved through the filed to take the top two spots by lap 3. One lap later Christians took the lead leaving Stanton to battle with Brandon Czarapata. After a quick caution, Rob Schmid shot between Stanton and Czarapata and assumed second. Similar to last week, Schmid stayed with Christians as Stanton and Czarapata continued to race side by side. Bad luck would again strike Schmid on lap 16. For two weeks in a row a suspension part would break ending his run. On the restart Christians again moved out with Czarapata clearing Stanton for third. On the white flag lap Czarapata went into the final turn a little too hot and spun his car allowing Stanton to take second behind Christians with Scott Erdmann taking third with Jerry Schaalma right behind.
For the first few laps of the mod feature, Rob Olson and Nick Woods ran side by side for the lead with the field bunched up behind them. Olson would assume the lead when something broke sending him headlong into the wall on lap 5. Scott Lewis then would pace the field as Jay Schraufnagel crept towards the front pack. By lap 9 Schraufnagel had moved into second and went to work on the outside of Lewis. Taking the lead on lap 9, Schraufnagel never looked back and went on to win with Lewis just edging out Dennis Schultz for second.
In the DCRA Pure Stock feature it was Jim Steger leading Steve Sietz for several laps before Seitz was able to take the lead. With Seitz out front it was a three-way fight for second with Jason Behring, Steger and Randy Schimmel. Clearing the other two, Behring took second and started to gain on Seitz. The laps would run out for Behring who would have to settle for second with third going to Steger.
With Jason Jaragoske and Nathan Persha swapping positions behind him, Nathan Gerbitz would lead every lap of the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. Every lap that is, except for the final one. Coming out of turn two Persha got a run on Gerbitz and moved under the leader. Persha also got a fender into Gerbitz sending the leader around. With Gerbitz spinning, Jaragoske dove under the two cars and took the lead and the victory.
