FRANK POLIMEDA NOTCHES TENTH TOP TEN FINISH
AT WALL TOWNSHIP SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT (JUNE 8)

WALL, N.J. ~ Modified stock car driver Frank Polimeda wrestled what fast became an ill-handling race car to finish eighth in the 35-lap main event at the Wall Township Speedway Saturday night. It was Polimeda's tenth top ten finish in eleven outings at the shore speedway.

The "Fort Lee Flyer" lined up eighth in the 22-car field and raced with the lead pack for the first 20-laps as his Neptune Research/Downs Ford Motorsports No. 40 became harder and harder to handle in the turns. Finally, on lap 21, he nearly lost control of the racer. Polimeda was able to correct and continue, however, but lost several spots while wrestling the car.

From that point on Polimeda settled his bright yellow racecar down. In fact, he was able to avoid a turn four multi-car tangle on the 26th lap and continued on to finish eighth.

"Not really sure why, but the car just got loose," Polimeda said immediately after the race. "We're going to take a close look at it and we'll figure it out."

Mike Carpenter of Brick won the contest, his first victory of the season, while Tim Arre of Toms River was second. Curtis Truex, Jr. of Mayetta was third, with Jimmy Blewett of Howell and Dave Michel of Manahawkin completing the top five.

Polimeda drove his 270cc Micro Sprint Car to a fifth place finish at the Linda's Speedway near Jonestown, Pa. on Friday night.

Polimeda plans on racing his No. 40 Modified stock car every Saturday evening at the third mile paved Wall Township Speedway oval during the 2002 schedule. The next event is set for Saturday night, June 15, a 35-lap main event.

Polimeda Performance Motorsports is sponsored by Neptune Research and Development, Downs Ford Motorsports, The Medicine Shoppe, B&B Performance, Stef's Fabrication, Mike's Pizza, and the NAPA Auto Parts Center in West Long Branch. The Ford engine, a rarity in short track stock car racing, is prepared by Jim Hagaman Racing Engines. More information is available at www.frankpolimeda.com.
