FRANK POLIMEDA IS A RECOVERY EXPERT -
COMES FROM REAR TO FINISH SIXTH AT WALL TOWNSHIP SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT (JUNE 1)
WALL, N.J. ~ After running with the lead pack for the majority of the 35-lap Modified stock car feature race at Wall Township Speedway Saturday night, Frank Polimeda recovered from a late-race tangle to race to a sixth place finish.
The "Fort Lee Flyer" started from sixth on the 22-car grid and immediately began a drive for the front. He advanced to third at one point, but then got tangled up with Jamie Tomaino, Sr. of Howell late in the race while battling for position. Both Tomaino and Polimeda restarted the race at the pack of the field and began to rip through the pack. Polimeda and the Neptune Research/Downs Ford Motorsports No. 40 finished sixth, while Tomaino was seventh.
"The race car was very fast again tonight," Polimeda said. "The breaks are just not going our way. We have constantly proven that we can pass people with this car. Things will turn around for us soon."
Jimmy Blewett of Howell, the track's defending champion and current point leader, won the event, while Brick's Marc Rogers was second. Tim Arre of Toms River, Richie Evans, Jr. of Howell and Farmingdale's Steve Whitt completed the top five.
Polimeda drove his 270cc Micro Sprint Car to a fourth place finish at the Linda's Speedway near Jonestown, Pa. on Friday night.
Polimeda plans on racing his No. 40 Modified stock car every Saturday evening at the third mile paved Wall Township Speedway oval during the 2002 schedule. The next event is set for Saturday night, June 8, a 35-lap main event.
Polimeda Performance Motorsports is sponsored by Neptune Research and Development, Downs Ford Motorsports, The Medicine Shoppe, B&B Performance, Stef's Fabrication, Mike's Pizza, and the NAPA Auto Parts Center in West Long Branch. The Ford engine, a rarity in short track stock car racing, is prepared by Jim Hagaman Racing Engines. More information is available at www.frankpolimeda.com.
