World of Outlaw Gumout coming to Auto Tire and Parts Racepark June 1

The Auto Tire and Parts Racepark in Benton, Mo will host the World of Outlaw Gumout Series this Saturday June 1. The series created by Pennzoil World of Outlaw owner Ted Johnson and led by former World of Outlaw racer Rick Ferkel helps to prepare Winged Sprint drivers for the grueling traveling demands and competition that the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series has.

The series was developed three years ago with the idea that Winged Sprint drivers could sharpen their skills in the Gumout Series and eventually move forward into the Pennzoil Series.

The series has produced top-name drivers such as Craig Dollansky, Paul McMahon, Daryn Pittman, and Ricky Logan. Dollansky was the 2000 Champion and Pittman earned the 2001 honors.

Former Pennzoil World of Outlaw competitors Tyler Walker, Shane Stewart and Craig Keel leads the series. While many other top-name drivers make up the highly competitive group, which includes Kraig Kinser, Wayne Johnson, Bob Bennett, Kurt Winker and Brian Carlson.

After cutting his teeth on the local bullrings in the Memphis, Tenn area Jason Sides will bring a lot of fans up from the Memphis area. The Memphis driver has spent the last several years traveling around the country with the Pennzoil Series, All-Stars, ASCS and the Gumout Series.

Sides currently stands third in the Gumout points just behind Walker and Stewart.

While the travelers bring in some tough competitors the Auto Tire and Parts Racepark regulars hope to bring home a major upset. The 2001 track champion Robbie Standridge will be high on the list to earn a win for the locals, while Shawn King, Todd Rowland, Daron Clayton, Alex Shanks and Jerrod Hull will all be at the top of their game hoping for the $5,000 winners pay.

Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with racing starting at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and those race fans under 5 will get in free. For more information on the racepark please visit or call (573) 545-9366.
