Beebe resumes I.M.C.A. sanction for Modifieds
BEEBE, Ark. (Jan. 23) - A familiar name and a familiar division return this season to the race track at Beebe, Ark.
The quarter-mile dirt track resumes the Beebe Speedway name and I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds are back on the Friday night program after a six-year absence.
Opening night for I.M.C.A. points is March 22, with the season running through Sept. 27.
"We've raced I.M.C.A. a long time. I like the procedures and the drivers like those points," said promoter Billy Fisher, in his second year at the helm at the former White County Speedway. "We're looking forward to this season."
Along with "a whole lot of remodeling from top to bottom," Fisher said a new concession stand would be in place on the grandstand side of the track, as would a new women's restroom in the pit area.
I.M.C.A. had sanctioned the Modifieds at Beebe from 1992-96.
Joining the Modifieds on the regular race card are the street stock, pure stock, mini stock and bomber classes.
