Dandy comes from 15th to win Myrgo All Star 50 for York Modifieds at Tri-City

Franklin, PA (September 23) - The Annual Myrgo All-Star 50 took place at Tri-City Speedway on Sunday for the Triathlon Racing Series York Modifieds. Jim Dandy, Jr. showed why he is the all-time leading winner in Triathlon Series history, capping an impressive charge from 15th starting position to win the York Modified portion of the Tri-City Modified Madness program. It was the second straight victory for the Niles, Ohio driver, giving him 20 victories in 64 events in Triathlon Series history.

The 50-lap "Myrgo All-Star 50" started with Russ Dempsey on the pole position, after his victory in the Coy Brothers Trucking Dash race. With Logan Dernoshek flanking him on the start, it did not matter for Brent Rhebergen as he raced from third starting position to the lead as the first lap was scored. Jeff Taylor advanced early from sixth starting position to ride second, with fifth starting Chuck Kennedy riding third. The early laps clicked by in the event, as the first 25 would run caution-free before a planned fuel stop slowed the race at the halfway mark. Jim Dandy, Jr. was inching forward, and would be in fourth position when the race would be stopped for fuel.

Back to green, Rhebergen continued to lead the way as Dandy immediately moved past Kennedy for third. Dandy then passed Taylor, and quickly closed in on Rhebergen. Dandy made two strong challenges to Rhebergen that were nullified by caution periods. Rhebergen would be bitten by bad luck on lap 40, when his car spun from the lead. Dandy would inherit the lead, but Taylor made a late charge to challenge in the closing laps. Dandy would hold on for his second straight Series win, and the 20th of his career. Two-time defending champion Taylor settled for a close second. Kennedy was third, with Larry Kugel fourth. Randy Hall made a late charge to finish fifth. York Series point leader Todd Roncaglione led the second five in sixth place, ahead of Kevin Decker, Mike Hess, Carl McKinney, and Ron Roncaglione.

With 43 York Modifieds on hand, Stahl Plumbing and Air Conditioning heat race winners were Brent Rhebergen, Jeff Rudrick, Chuck Kennedy, Russ Dempsey, and Logan Dernoshek. The two rbracing.com B-Main event winners were Jim Dandy, Jr. and Carl McKinney. Shawn Shingledecker was the winner of the Hendrickson Fabrication and Performance Hard Charger Award, advancing 16 positions by starting 29th and finishing 13th.

Todd Roncaglione continues to be the York Series point leader, leading the standings over Jeff Taylor, Ron Roncaglione, Jeff Rudrick, and Jeff Sharp. Taylor is the Coy Brothers Trucking Dash point leader, over Todd Roncaglione and Sharp. The rbracing.com B-Main point leader is Arlan Coy over Kari Petrosky. There have been 126 drivers taking part in the eleven events in 2001. And Daryl Stimeling made history over the weekend, by becoming the first driver to compete in both a Triathlon Series York Modified and York Sprint event.
