Dates Announced for 12th Annual Magnolia State 100

COLUMBUS, Miss. (Sept. 3, 2001) - The 12th Annual Magnolia State 100 will be held at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on October 5th and 6th. The 100 lap Super Late Model main event will pay a Columbus Speedway and event record $15,000 to win. The Magnolia State 100 is considered by many to be one of the most prestigious events in the South and a leading event in the state of Mississippi . Many drivers and fans from outside the region are expected to be in attendance combined with the strong local representation providing for a thrilling event at the high banked 3/10's mile clay oval.

Action will get started with an open practice session on Thursday night October 4th. Then its "Showtime" at the Columbus Speedway high banks as Pole Night for the Magnolia State 100 will get underway on Friday night October 5th. A full show is scheduled, as the Super Late Models will have Pole Qualifying plus an expected six qualifying races locking on the top eighteen of the twenty four-car field. The Mississippi Modifieds will also run qualifying races Friday night for their $1,500 to win Magnolia Championship on Saturday. All local divisions will have feature events on Friday night as well. Saturday night October 6th will begin featuring B-Main events for the Super Late Models and Mississippi Modifieds. The headlining main event of the evening will be the $15,000 to win Magnolia State 100 for the Super Late Models. The event will feature a lap 50 competition caution for refueling purposes so that the racecars can run alcohol. All exciting Columbus Speedway divisions will also have feature events including the Mississippi Modified's Magnolia State Championship.

Adult general admission is $15 on Friday night and $20 on Saturday night. Two-day passes are an economical $30. Pit passes are $25 each on Friday and Saturday night. Columbus Speedway is located 7 miles east of Columbus , Mississippi off of Highway 82. Exit at Stokes Road exit and follow the signs north approximately 2.5 miles.
