Mercer, PA.Mercer Raceway Park will stage the richest non-sanctioned Sprint
Car event in western Pa. and eastern Ohio of the year this Saturday night.
The fifth annual Chuck Marsh Memorial will be culminated by a 40-lap $5,000
to-win, $250 to-start event for the Sprint Cars. Dean Jacobs won the
inaugural event in 1997. Jeff Shepard then swept the two-day show in 1998.
Now Ed Lynch, Jr. looks to make it three in row in this prestigious event.

"This is a nice way to end the year and show our support to the Sprint
Cars," said owner Vicki Emig. "This is the second straight year that the
purse has been increased for this event. We have gotten excellent support
for these types of shows and hopefully the fans should see a great show

Other top competitors that will be primed for victory include Jimmy Hawley,
who has won the last five Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Car events
including Saturday's $2,500 to-win special. Point champion, Tom Quarterson,

victorious this year and look to fend off the challenges of the non-Mercer
regulars. Troy Preston, Mike Kekich, Jason Jacoby, and Gary Edwards have all
run up front this year and would love score their first wins of the season
in this big event.

The Bolland Machine Big-Block Modifieds will be on the card in a 25-lap
$1,300 to-win special. The Butterfield's Pub Stock Cars will be go for $500
to-win in their final tune-up for their $1,200 to-win Little Guy Nationals
event on October 6.

The Champions row, originally scheduled for September 8, has been
rescheduled for Saturday night. Track champions, Tom Quarterson, Lou Blaney,
Steve Young, and Andy Buckley will be behind the grandstands with their cars
prior to racing for autographs on the McElwain Family of Dealerships "Meet
Your Hero" cards.
