Jack Sprague won his fourth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race of the season Thursday night and took over the series point lead in the process. Sprague dominated most of the 200-lap event on Richmond's three-quarters mile paved oval but had to survive a door-to-door battle with Kevin Harvick in the closing laps to post a half-truck length victory. Sprague leads Joe Ruttman by 27 points with Scott Riggs third in the standings, 57 points behind Sprague.

Mark Kinser captured the first Gold Cup Race of Champions victory of his career Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. Kinser walked away from the northern California quarter-mile clay oval $25,000 richer after trading the lead with Stevie Smith three times during the 40-lap feature. Kinser took control for good with nine laps remaining and stretched his point lead over Danny Lasoski to 23 in their battle for the Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship. Jeff Shepard and Smith won the preliminary night features.

In an unsanctioned dirt late model race at Ohio's Eldora Speedway, Scott Bloomquist collected $34,000 for winning the World 100. Bloomquist took the lead from Jim Curry on lap 26 and went on to victory over Donnie Moran, Billy Moyer, Terry Phillips and Steve Francis. A total of 224 cars participated.
