Chris Mullinax Takes Over TST Point's Lead
Talladega, AL-Birmingham's Chris Mullinax continues his breakout year as a
Dirt Late Model driver as he won another feature Saturday night at Talladega
Short Track in the Kilpatrick Super Late Models over a strong 25 car field
and also took over the points' lead from Stacy Holmes. Mullinax won a hard
fought battle for the win on the racy 3/10's mile clay oval over Anniston's
Tim Roszell who has become a force as of late after acquiring in newer well-
financed ride for the latter part of the 2001 season. The ever popular "High
Plains Drifter" Ted Lackey from Munford was the third man across the line
with "The Dominator" Danny Peoples fourth, and Talladega's Bubba Lackey in
fifth. Completing the top ten were Quick Six Dash winner Skip Freeman, along
with Bo Shirley, Donnie Elkins, Don Farmer, and Anniston's Ronnie Norton.
The always-competitive Sportsman class saw Jason Hiett take the win over
Gadsden's Kevin Tallant who is on a mission to win the TST Track
Championship. Oxford's Jeff Johns continues his string year with a third
place run followed by Doug Stewart, and Chris Abercrombie of Pell City.
The Gulf Coast IMCA Modified Region main event went to defending Rookie of
the Year Kevin Waddell of Southside, Alabama. Shelby's Jeff Harry was the
runner up with Petie Poe finishing third. Jamie Wynn and Anniston's Eddie
Brannon rounded out the top five. The IMCA Stock Car victory went to
Margaret's Charlie Chapman with Jeremy Hurst in tow. Tommy Shelnut was
The Bomber win went to Cliff Walker with Robby Goodman second and Jerry
Grier finishing in third. Shane Martin and Bill Atkinson rounded out the top
five. The Pony victory went to Odenville's Alan Glaze with top contender
Jonathan Chapman second and Randy Martin completing the top three. The
Cruiser win went to the tandem of McAvoy and McAvoy.
TST will host a Full Racing Program this Saturday night. The next special
event at TST will be the 21st Annual Alabama Dirt Track Jamboree on Friday
and Saturday nights September 21st and 22nd.
