BLOOMQUIST MAKES IT THREE IN A ROW AT ATOMIC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

KNOXVILLE, TN - Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN picked his third
straight United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series victory
Sunday night in the 100-lap main event at Atomic Motor Speedway driving
the
Miller Brothers Coal Warrior/Custom Mustang.

The defending and four-time UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series Champion held off
the
hard charging Rick Eckert of York, PA to lead all 100 laps and post his
tenth win of the 2001 season worth $20,000. Bloomquist took the victory
with an untested engine.

"We had something go wrong with our engine last night, so we changed the
engine this afternoon and missed our hot lap session," Bloomquist said.
"The engine ran strong and the car was a little loose, but the track was
in
great shape. With all of the rain we had around here, the track crew did
a
great job preparing the track. Every groove was just as fast as the other."

Eckert's second place finish in the Raye Vest Rocket/Cornett Mustang put
him back on top of the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series point standings. Eckert
now
leads Steve Francis of Ashland, KY by 13 points. Francis finished sixth
in
the Valvoline/Mopar Performance Rocket/Stanton Intrepid. Bloomquist remains
third in the points chase, 106 points behind Eckert.

"We're still in the running for the championship," Bloomquist said of his
drive for five. "We've gotten on a role here with three straight wins,
and
there are eight races left, so we've just got to keep trying to win every
race."

Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN took the third spot in the J&J Steel
Barry Wright/Clements Grand Prix after starting 12th. Johnson spent the
last 20 laps of the race battling side-by-side with Skip Arp of Georgetown,
TN for the third spot. Fast qualifier and polesitter Arp had to settle
for
fourth in the Curtis Equipment GRT/Cornett Mustang.

Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR finished fifth in the JFR Graphics/Monday
Motorsports GRT/Russell Baker Grand Prix. Following Francis was David Payne
of Murphy, NC in seventh driving the Payne Tire GRT/Race Tech Monte Carlo.
The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN was eighth in the
Christenberry Trucking and Farms GRT/Custom Monte Carlo.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC recovered from a late race spin while running
fifth to salvage a ninth-place finish in the English Mountain Spring
Water/Easy Care GRT/Cornett Mustang. Randy Korte of Highland, IL was the
JE
Pistons Hard Charger of the Race with a tenth place finish after starting
his Mid-Continental Fuel Larry Shaw/Pro Power Monte Carlo in the 22nd spot.

Bloomquist grabbed the lead from the outside front row starting spot at
the start of the race followed by Arp, Cook, Eckert, and Wallace. The
leaders caught the tail of the field by the 12th lap and Eckert passed Cook
to take the third spot. On lap 17, Eckert moved by Arp to take the second
spot. Wallace passed Cook for the fourth spot on lap 20.

Eckert began to reel in Bloomquist on lap 34 as the lead duo worked through
heavy lapped traffic. Working three and four wide through traffic, Eckert
got the nose of his car under Bloomquist a couple of times, but could not
complete the pass.

The first of three caution flags came out on lap 40 when 1999 UDTRA
Champion Dale McDowell of Rossville, GA spun his Larry Shaw Race Cars
Rocket/Hatfield Grand Prix in turn four. On the restart, Bloomquist led
Eckert, Arp, and Wallace, who dropped to the inside groove to challenge
for
third spot.

Johnson made his presence known on lap 43 when he passed Cook to move up
to
the top five. On lap 45, Johnson joined Arp and Wallace in a three-car
battle for third spot. Lap 45 saw Arp, Wallace and Johnson race three-wide.
At the halfway point it was Bloomquist, Eckert, Arp, Johnson, Cook, Wallace,
Francis, Payne, Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, TN, and Smith.

Eckert closed on Bloomquist on lap 55, and on lap 59, Bloomquist moved
from
the outside groove to the bottom of the track. After a lap, Bloomquist
moved back up to the high side of the 1/3-mile high-banked clay oval.
Eckert tried to get an inside run on Bloomquist, but was unable to mount
a
serious challenge.

Another opportunity presented itself for Eckert to challenge for the lead
on lap 71, when Bloomquist was forced to the bottom groove in lapped
traffic. Once Bloomquist cleared the lapped cars on lap 75, he began to
pull away from Eckert. The caution flag came out on lap 78 to let medical
personnel across the track from the infield to handle a situation in the
front grandstand.

After the restart, Johnson went to work on Arp to race for the third spot.
Cook moved up from fifth to make it a three-way dance. On lap 89, Cook
dove
for the bottom at the same time Johnson did, and Cook spun in turn one to
bring out the third caution flag.

With ten laps to go, Johnson drove past Arp to take the third spot for
good, as Bloomquist stayed ahead of Eckert to the checkered flag.

Earlier in the evening, Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS won the Renegade
Transporters 1st 15-lap Consolation Race in the Jeff Cooley Trucking
GRT/Performance Monte Carlo, and David Crabtree of Maryville, TN won the
Polaris ATVs 2nd 15-lap Consolation Race in the Hitch Repair and Machine
Warrior/Custom Monte Carlo.

On Saturday night, Arp out-qualified the 48 entrants with a lap in 11.803
seconds for and average speed of 101.669 miles per hour. Arp also won the
first of four Borla Performance 15-lap heat races to earn the pole position.

Bloomquist won the second heat and the JE Pistons $100 Bonus Award. Cook
took the third heat, and Eckert won the Scott Performance Wire $100 Bonus
Award with a fourth heat race win.

The next event for the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will be on September 13
at
Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX for the $15,000-to-win Wolf Brand
Chili Challenge. For ticket information visit the Texas Motor Speedway
