Hargrave scores second win on Jackpot Junction Tour
ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 1) - The Jackpot Junction Tour has its first two-time winner.
A season-high 26 I.M.C.A. Sprint Cars were on hand Saturday night at Arlington Raceway for the sixth stop of the series. Tony Hargrave, who won the opener at Arlington back on May 26, again took the checkered flag at the half-mile speedplant.
Bruce Defries was the early leader, before Hargrave found a way around on the third circuit. Donovan Peterson took over the second spot and closed the gap behind Hargrave as the two wound through lapped traffic.
The caution flag came out for a spun car on lap 15. Hargrave stayed in control on the re-start, win-ning ahead of Peterson, Defries and new points leader Brandon Allen.
Defending series and national champion Kent Winters won the "B" race and finished the feature in fifth.
Bob Hildreth took the points lead to Arlington but was sidelined for the night after rolling in the "B." The same tangle took Lyle Sylvester out of contention.
Allen takes a two-point lead over Defries into the Jackpot Junction event tonight (Sunday) at Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls, Minn. Sid Denzer and Dave Heskin are tied for third, six points behind Allen, and Peterson is fifth, 12 points out of the lead.
The series ends Thursday night, Sept. 6 during the I.M.C.A. Speedway Motors Super Nationals at the Boone, Iowa, Speedway.
