posted August 19, 2001 03:38 PM SMITH NABS GRAYS HARBOR PRELIMINARY New Oxford's Stevie Smith inherited the lead of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws preliminary feature event at Grays Harbor Raceway Park in Elma, WA, Friday night when a lapped car took out race leader Mark Kinser on the eighth lap. Smith then held off Dale Blaney to win the 25 lap preliminary fetaure for his second preliminary feature win of the season, and his sixth overall in 2001. "We almost didn't get this one," said a happy Smith from victory lane. "We caught a break there in traffic, and a couple of fast cars had trouble in front of us." "We're just basically taking one race at a time. We got ourselves into a pretty big hole at the beginning of the season, and it's going to take a lot more nights like this to dig ourselves out. I just want to thank my crew for all their hard work. We got Jamie Adrian, who used to work for Mark Kinser working for us now and he's showing us all their secrets, but I think they still have a few that we don't know."
