DEWEASE RETURNS FROM FLAT TO WIN - KAUFFMAN CAPTURES 10TH TRACK TITLE
Mont Alto's Lance Dewease returned to the field after a suffering a flat
tire on the 13th lap and raced back through the field to inherit the lead on
the 23rd lap when race-leader Keith Kauffman was involved with an
altercation with a lapped car and raced to his third win of the season in
the 25 lap super sprint feature at Port Royal Speedway Saturday night. The
win was Dewease's 12th overall 410 spprint win of the season.
Kauffman, who was vying for his record 10th Port Royal track title in the
final points race of the season, was leading feature with 22 laps complete
when he and the l0th place car of Dave Hahn made contact on the
frontstretch. Hahn, who had apparently broke his front axle, flipped and
Kauffman stood his car straight up, but did not go over. Even with the
misfortune, Kauffman was able to be credited with a 10th place finish and
claimed the track championship.
Hamburg's Scott Haus took the lead from Tim Gray on the eighth lap and
raced away to his fifth win of the season in the 20 lap Hub-City Qualifier
for late models. Steve Campbell, who finished 13th, secured his second track
title in the process.
Tim Krape got the lead from Scott Dorman on the second lap and led the rest
of the way for his second pro stocks feature win of the season. Jim Palm's
fifth place finish allowed him to claim his third pro stock track title.
