MOTHER NATURE TAKES WIN; HUB-CITY QUALIFIER THIS WEEK
For immediate release August 18, 2001
CLEARFIELD, PA - Hidden Valley Speedway had four heat races in the record
books and number five on the track when the skies opened up Saturday night,
forcing the postponement of the pure stock special until September 1.
With the rainout the schedule has been juggled around a bit. The revised
schedule will show the Hub-City 150 Qualifier being held this coming
Saturday. The Sid's Subs Late Models will be going 35 laps for $1000 to win.
Also on the schedule this week is a regular show for the Kneppy's Fireworks
Small Block Modifieds, 84 Lumber Street Stocks, four cylinders and Northwest
Bae Kennels Pure Stocks. Clearfield True Value sponsors this weeks racing.
The pure stocks will have their special on September 1 with the top five
finishers in the pure stocks receiving a trophy from Northwest Bae Kennels.
The other four divisions will also receive a trophy.
Dan Smeal, Sam Swauger and Tom Williams won the Three 84 Lumber Street
Stock heats. Chetter Johnson won the first of three Kneppy's Fireworks Small
Block Modifieds heats.
There were 80 cars in the pits, including: 12 late models, 20 small block
modifieds, 20 street stocks, 10 four cylinders and 18 pure stocks.new cars
in the pits included: Kris Wellar in the late models, Travis Cribbs, Sam
Swauger, Jim Dean, Scott Alvetro and Bob Conner in the street stocks and
David Clark in the pure stocks.
General admission will remain at only $7 for this weeks Hub-City 150
qualifier. The gates will open at 5 racing will being at 7 p.m. For
