National Modified Series feature at State Fair belongs to Logue

DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 14) - John Logue followed a Saturday afternoon win at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway with a Tuesday night victory in the I.M.C.A. National Modified Series.
Logue jumped into the lead from the pole and led until lap eight, when Jim Lynch took the high side of the track to the front.
Lynch led for six laps before Logue made the low groove work on a re-start. Lynch went out with mechanical prob-lems on the 20th circuit and Logue held onto the lead the last five laps, winning by a car length over Mark Elliott.
Denny Stoneburner was third and fourth went to Joe McBirnie.
Heat winners during the Iowa State Fair show were Logue, Lynch and Kevin Lovell.
