Path Valley Karters and Quads Aid Local Food Bank
Spring Run, PA-Path Valley Karting teams and fans in the free grandstand
pitched in for a van load of supplies for the local food banks Saturday, in
addition to the pick-up load collected Friday night.
Matt Horst was the feature winner as more than a dozen of the winged outlaw
karts visited Path Valley. Horst, from Liverpool, started second and passed
Scott Messimer for the lead in the early laps. The front five were Horst,
Messimer, Mike Kline, Frank Zeplin and Shane Dressler.
More than 100 kart teams raced as some prepared for next Sunday's
Pennsylvania Dirt Karters Association (PDKA) state championship series race.
Gates open next Saturday at 11 a.m. for the karts and four-wheelers, and the
four-wheelers also race in next Saturday night's AMA Motorcycle races. Gates
open at 7 a.m. Sunday for the PDKA race that in the past has attracted more
than 300 teams from six states to Path Valley.
Stock cars, Legends and sprints race Friday nights on the smooth clay and
steep banks of the Path Valley quarter mile. Next Friday is Pepsi Race Night
and features a $500 to win feature for the four-cylinder thunder cars and
the Dwarf Cars as special guests.
Karts and four wheelers race Saturday afternoons and five classes of
sprints race with the Legends Saturday nights. AMA motorcycles race once a
month and special shows include a 200-lap Enduro race Sunday, August 26 and
the season's third Junk Car Race Sunday, Sept. 2.
